Conference Centre
Situated in the heart
of England, Markfield Conference Centre nestles in nine acres
of well-established parkland with sprawling lawns, flowerbeds
and a good selection of mature trees. It offers an ideal venue
for conferences, courses and training programmes by local authorities,
schools, religious community, service groups and organised groups
of all kinds. A subsidiary of the Islamic Foundation, a registered
non-profit charity, it provides excellent facilities at exceptionally
competitive rates.
Residential
Accommodation
The maximum number that can be accommodated residentially is normally
forty-four. There are two low-rise residential blocks of single
high class, centrally heated, study bedrooms. Each floor is equipped
with Showers and Toilets.
The residential halls
have relaxing lounges with good scenic views. Furnished with colour
televisions, they also have facilities for hot and cold refreshments
and snacks.
Recreation
In the grounds of the Centre, there is ample space to relax and
enjoy the scenery or use the grass areas for outdoor games. A
reasonable size games room offers table tennis, pool tables, exercise
and keep fit and weight-lifting apparatus. Board games are also
available in the lounges on request.
There is a floodlit
driving and skid pad, formerly used for the training of ambulance
staff and other professional driving courses.
Conference
Facilities
This centrally located building contains a well-fitted reception
room for registering and welcoming programme participants. A large
meeting hall tastefully decorated to high standards, with all
modern A/V equipments (including power-point projectors and a
PA system) accommodates 130 persons. Two small teaching rooms
accommodate 20 people each. Two multi-purpose conservatory halls,
one opening out onto a lawn, can be used for exhibitions, buffets,
etc. There is also a permanent brick-built barbecue. An extra
lecture theatre accommodating 90 persons can be made available
on request.
Catering
Markfield Conference Centre provides full board facilities. All
meals are prepared in the main kitchen serving the Dining Hall.
A wide variety of menus, especially oriental and vegetarian, are
available. Special dietary requirements can be catered for by
prior request. There is some flexibility in the serving times;
however, groups should arrange the exact times with the Centre
administration at the time of booking.
The Dining Hall is
suitably furnished for formal dinners and banquets with seating
capacity for a maximum of 70 persons. Hot serving units and cold
salad bars provide efficient serving.
General
Points
Please note: It is advisable to book well in
advance to avoid disappointment.
The Centre is run on a strict “no-alcohol” basis;
it neither allows nor serves alocoholic beverages.
The Centre allows
camping for organizations, clubs and schools, etc, who are encouraging
the development of outdoor education.
The A/V equipment
such as the PowerPoint, video recorder, slide projector, overhead
projector, etc. are available by prior request at nominal charges.
Laptops are not provided by the Centre.
