On the invitation of the Turkish Government, Dr Manazir Ahsan spoke at an international conference in Istanbul organised by TIKA and SETA in March on “Changing Nature of Development Aid from Past to Future”. His paper provided a critique of the capitalistic model of development aid and offered the Islamic perspectives, citing the example of Muslim Aid’s contributions to the area of microfinance.
