The Mayflower Club at the Markfield Community Centre arranged a visit on 13th May to introduce the older members of the local community to the work of the Foundation and to address any questions they had about Islam.
With the help of staff from MIHE and the Foundation, an afternoon tea was organised in the MIHE Cafeteria and Farooq Murad gave a brief introduction to the work that takes place on site. This was followed by an introduction to Islam from Siddiq Bland and an interesting discussion ensued, with questions from the guests about all aspects of the religion, from Hijab to Muslims in the Media and extremism.
The visitors were then taken on a tour of the site which included the Prayer Hall and Library. The event proved to be mutually beneficial and we hope to hold many such events in the future and work closely with the local community to ensure better engagement and cooperation.
