We were honoured today to receive David Tredinnick, MP for Bosworth, at our site in Markfield, Leicestershire for an insightful and wide-ranging discussion regarding Islam and Muslims in the modern world. The Director General, Farooq Murad, along with Chairman, Dr Manazir Ahsan and other colleagues welcomed the MP, along with his partner and a colleague, giving them a tour of the site and the various institutions and organizations operating within it.
Staff from the locally based Markfield Institute of Higher Education, Kube Publishing and the New Muslim Project shared in discussing their work alongside the Foundation, as well as the needs and challenges of the wider British Muslim community. Important questions around gender, integration, community cohesion, education and radicalisation were raised and fruitfully discussed from both a spiritual and political viewpoint. The Foundation and other local institutions welcomed Mr Tredinnick’s desire to meet in the near future in an effort to look at how such institutions can have a beneficial impact on wider society.
The Islamic Foundation would like to thank Mr Tredinnick for his visit and support of our work to promote dialogue and understanding across different faiths in the UK and the wider world.
